Wow, it's hard to believe that it has been 5 years since I started IPTBB! I just don't know what to say.
IPTBB has definitely helped define the last 5 years for me. It has helped get me a job and helped me focus on what I wanted to do, Computer science. I will be the first to admit that the current version of IPTBB is quite lacking. It is the product of my journey though web programming, and it has just been added onto year after year since I started (and I was also helped by a few friends along the way).
5 years ago, I was a 14 year old kid. Much has changed in my life since then, and I have definitely grown up. I think its a good thing that I have somewhat of a record of my growth over these years, and I will always be able to look back on this time...
Anyways, enough with the history. The future is where we should be looking, after all!
I wish I could have had 0.6 done by now, or at least something to show for the past 10 months since the last version came out, but I have been busy with other things. Over break I have been working mostly. University starts up for me again at the end of this month, and I will also be working part time. I might not have lots of time to code, but IPTBB will never really be forgotten. I have been thinking of ways to redo the main site for a while now. It looks pretty bad as it is, and redoing it shouldn't be too hard. It's something I can definitely work on if i ever get some time later.
Other then that, on the 0.6 front, I still have to remake the database. I think that is a reason why it has taken so long for me to get into gear, it is dreadfully boring even if necessary.
So I figured I would try to get some statistics of the last 5 years, for those interested. Here's what I have:
- IPTBB has been downloaded 1232 times since Aug 2007 (when the first version was actually released).
- Our best month was Jan 2008, with 109 downloads (our sourceforge rank was 1,380).
- Our sourceforge.net pages have been viewed 16,902 times (we aren't hosted by them, so this is specifically the these pages).
- For the website, I don't really have one place with all the data. Only counting the times I was smart enough to put google analytics on the site, we have had 4,109 Visits; 6,229 Pageviews (on and off since march of 08; currently analytics is only on the front page, not the forums).
Pretty good for something that has never been advertised at all. If there is any other type of statistics I forgot and someone is interested, I'll look into it.
Feel free to post in the forums. I hacked some basic email notifications for myself if anyone posts, so your post wont go unanswered!
Lets make it to a 10 year anniversary, eh?

Update:
I have found and fixed a bug in the installer/updater. If you haven't been able to install or update, this should hopefully fix it! (If not, let me know!) That will teach me to release without testing it more... The download links have been updated.

I know it took forever, and i promised it a while ago, but it's here now!
To Install:
Upload to desired directory, chmod config-empty.php to be writable, then run setup/install.php
To Upgrade:
Upload all the files, then run setup/upgrade.php

It may not have all the features i wanted to put into it, but I really don't have the time to work that much on it now. So I thought i would release what I had, and this is it! Enjoy!
Also, if there are ANY problems, please post! Even though this is the last 0.5 release, I will still support it until the next IPTBB is released. |

Update (January 18th): To go along with a new logo, we also need a new default avatar, as well as the Users Online and Statistics images.
Just so you know if you give an image for us to use, we can use it however we see fit. It is our image when you submit it. Thanks!
Well, we have a logo... but the colors are off.
And I can't change it because i don't have the PSD file.
So, if anyone would like to contribute one, please do.
You can submit new designs and ill pick the coolest, or remake one similar to the current one (but with the correct colors). All i ask is that you provide the PSD file.
You will be mentioned in the next release post for your efforts! :D
This also reminds me, I am planning on making a contributor page for the main website. If you have contributed to IPTBB and i forgot, please comment and i will make sure i add you to the page (when its up).
